Unsatisfied With Your Life

1 Thessalonians 5:18: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Many individuals who are unsatisfied with the circumstances of their lives are the same ones who are unsatisfied with the God who directly causes or permits the circumstances to happen to them. None of us will ever be satisfied with the circumstances of our lives until we are satisfied with the God who gives them. We need to understand that God puts the circumstances into our lives that are exactly what we need. One of the reasons I gave my life to the Lord was that I was unsatisfied with it as it was. I was unsatisfied with what I myself had done with my life. I finally believed that He wanted to make it better and was the only one who could make it better. Being unsatisfied with our lives should drive us to Him and draw us to Him for something better. Unsatisfied unbelievers can and should come to Him for a better life. Unsatisfied believers are not living the lives that God has planned for them. It is an insult to the sovereignty of God and the power of God to believe that He cannot change your life. It is an insult to the love of God to believe that He doesn*t want to. We all need to stop insulting Him.

Before I received Jesus nothing completely satisfied me. Satisfaction was just a momentary thing. I moved quickly from being satisfied for a moment with some new possession or some new accomplishment to looking for the next thing that might provide enduring satisfaction. My life was an endless pursuit of satisfaction and never quite getting it.

Since I received Jesus the satisfaction He gives is deeper and eternal. The satisfaction He gives builds satisfaction upon satisfaction. One little act of obedience to God provides satisfaction that stays with me. A second little obedience adds a bit more satisfaction and so on. My satisfaction builds and my dissatisfaction shrinks. I do a lot less complaining and a lot more thanking. And, of course, much like you I forget that God is in charge of everything and catch myself doing some ignorant and ungrateful complaining. It is probably my most frequent insult to God and my most frequent sin.

Romans 5:3-4: And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

I don*t want any tribulations. How about you? But they work patience, experience and hope. I want the patience, experience and hope but those things usually don*t come through desirable circumstances and smooth sailing. We get the better life through tribulations and we should be grateful for them.

John 10:10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The more abundant life consists of tribulation, patience, experience and hope.
